ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) simplifies the compatibility of IP cameras, recorders and software by defining standardized interfaces and function profiles.
Profiles in practice
- Profile S/T: typically live image, streaming and common integration.
- Profile G: work with recording (search/playback).
In practice, ONVIF often decides whether cameras and recording devices can be sensibly combined across different manufacturers.
