Communication plan

What does the term mean

Defines communication processes for both routine and incidents (channels, escalations, contacts).

Communication plan prevents the incident from "overwhelming the radio" and no one knows who has what to report. It typically specifies radio channels, roles, an escalation tree, and contacts.

The minimum that must work

  • who leads the resolution of the incident (one name),
  • who calls the police / fire brigade / EMS,
  • where is the ICP and who reports to it,
  • how evacuation/invacuation is instructed.

Practical meaning

How Communication plan applies to a real service

It makes sense mainly when it results in a specific procedure for an object, an event or a team on site.

When is the term resolved

Communication plan is mainly handled in practice when choosing the type of security, comparing suppliers, creating assignments or dividing roles between security, organizers and operations.

Common mistakes in practice

A common mistake is to order a general service without describing the place, time, risks, contact and result that the team is to deliver.

What to do in practice

If the term applies to your real operation, it connects to Event security. That is where we deal with the specific space, scope, responsibility and next step before deployment.
