UPS supplies power during a mains outage, typically for minutes. In security it is essential for PoE switches, NVR/VMS servers, network elements and communication converters.
Without UPS this is what happens
- A CCTV outage may interrupt recording during an incident.
- Communication will fall to the external reception center or responsible persons.
- “Fail-safe” doors are unlocked at the worst possible moment (depending on the type of installation).
