Fire alarm system
What does the term mean
Fire safety equipment for early smoke or fire detection.
EPS is an autonomous system that continuously monitors the occurrence of signs of combustion (smoke, heat, flame). Unlike conventional detectors, EPS in commercial buildings is legally required and subject to regular revisions.
Interakce se stavbou
In case of an alarm, the EPS not only triggers signaling, but can also actively control the building's related systems:
- Turns off ventilation to prevent smoke from spreading.
- Releases electromagnetic locks on escape routes.
- Sends information to the counter of the Fire and Rescue Service (HZS).
Role of physical security
The security guard at the EPS control center must confirm within 3-5 minutes (depending on the type of object) whether it is a real fire or a false alarm (e.g. dust during construction) in order to prevent the unnecessary exit of firefighters, which is usually charged.
